UVAMAI TECH HUB
Aptitude is evenly distributed. Access is not.
TECH HUB is what the 30% pledge pays for: machines, mentorship and real work for people who can build but were never handed the equipment to prove it. Rural or any background, anywhere in the world.
Learning to build on a borrowed phone is a handicap nobody should have to carry into an interview.
Read the pledge behind itHow it works
Four stages, and none of them is a certificate
The gap between finishing a course and holding a job is closed by shipping something real, with someone experienced watching. The programme is built around that and very little else.
A capable laptop, a working internet connection and licences for the tooling the industry actually runs. Not a lab you queue for — equipment you keep for the duration, because progress made in two-hour slots is not progress.
Version control, testing, code review, debugging someone else's work, reading an error properly. The unglamorous half of engineering that courses skip and every employer assumes you already have.
A placement on real delivery alongside our team, with code that goes to review and to production. Paid, because unpaid work experience quietly filters for people who can already afford to do it.
Where someone is good enough, the intended outcome is employment — with us, or with one of our delivery partners. Judged on what they can build rather than on which institution issued the paperwork.
Who it is for
Three ways in
Applications are not open yet. When they are, they open here first and the criteria are published in full — not summarised.
Students and self-taught builders
Opening laterYou can already make things and you can show it, however scrappy. Formal qualifications are not a filter and neither is where you live.
Engineers who want to mentor
Register interestA few hours a month reviewing code and answering the questions nobody wants to ask in public. The highest-leverage thing an experienced engineer can give.
Organisations and partners
Talk to usPlacements, equipment or a hiring pipeline at the end of it. We would rather have partners who take the graduates than partners who fund a logo.
The rules we set ourselves
What keeps this from becoming marketing
Funding is structural, not discretionary
30% of profit is written into the company bylaws. It is not a budget line that a difficult quarter quietly removes, and it does not need re-approving each year.
Placements are paid
Unpaid experience selects for people who can already afford to work for free, which is precisely the filter this programme exists to remove.
We publish the numbers or we publish nothing
Places funded, placements completed, offers made — reported annually once there is a year to report. Until then this page says so plainly rather than implying results.
No student is a case study without consent
Nobody appears in our marketing because we paid for their laptop. Written permission, or they are not on this site.
Where this stands today
In build, and said out loud
The commitment is in the bylaws, the programme repository exists, and the first cohort has not started. We would rather publish that sentence than a photograph of somebody else's classroom. When there are results, they will be on this page with their qualifiers attached.
Mentor, partner, or tell us you want in
